Tanggu is one of the districts of the municipality Tianjin on the northeastern coast of China. It is one of the ports for Tianjin, which is about 50 kilometers upriver.

The district is located on the banks of the Hai River which flows through Beijing and Tianjin into the Gulf of Bohai of the Yellow Sea.

The Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) in Tanggu, formed in late 1984, is the main free market zone in Tianjin.

It is a vast area by the seaside which contains a port, an extensive transportation network, business buildings and urban residential areas.

The city is gifted with many parks with beautiful sculptures, nice restaurants and hotels.
